Humaen Spaces is a human-centered architecture design studio led by Chartered Architect Namila Gunatilake and Architect Himaya Perera. Based in Sri Lanka, the practice is dedicated to creating thoughtful architecture that responds to the way people live, work, and experience space.

At the heart of Humaen Spaces is the belief that meaningful architecture begins with human experience. The studio approaches each project as an exploration of how spatial design can support wellbeing, enrich everyday life, and create a deeper connection between people, place, and environment.

Working across residential, hospitality, commercial, and retail architecture, the studio focuses on designing spaces that are intuitive, climate-responsive, and carefully integrated with their surroundings. Particular emphasis is placed on contemporary tropical architecture, where natural light, ventilation, materiality, and spatial clarity play a central role in shaping comfortable and enduring environments.

Led by Chartered Architect Namila Gunatilake and Architect Himaya Perera, the practice combines strong conceptual design thinking with advanced BIM-driven architectural development and technical coordination. This approach allows the studio to translate design ideas into precise and buildable solutions while maintaining architectural clarity from concept through construction.

Humaen Spaces provides a comprehensive range of services including architectural design, interior architecture and interior design, residential and luxury home design, hospitality and resort architecture, commercial and retail design, design development, BIM coordination, and construction stage advisory services. The studio works collaboratively with clients, consultants, and builders to ensure that design intent is carefully realized throughout the project lifecycle.

The practice undertakes projects across Sri Lanka as well as internationally, with experience and interest in developments in locations such as Australia and the Maldives, bringing a globally informed perspective while remaining deeply responsive to local context and climate.

With a focus on custom homes, boutique hospitality environments, thoughtfully designed commercial spaces, and contemporary tropical architecture, Humaen Spaces aims to create buildings and interiors that are refined, enduring, and centered around human experience.
